10 Reasons You Should Buy Penny Experiment Art

Penny Experiment art has started to arrive and the first pieces will go up for sale next week. That means that you will have the opportunity to purchase some of this art, but you may be wondering if you really should. Just as there were a lot of good reasons to buy the original penny that I found, there are also plenty of great reasons to buy Penny Experiment art. Here are ten of them:

10. Link love (if you own a website) mention for purchasing the art.

9. You can claim superior foresight over your friends for being one of the few who were able to purchase one of these art pieces.

8. Whatever price you buy it for, many more times that amount worth of food will end up at food banks.

7. You can bask in the “coolness factor” of being one of only 100 people in the world to own one of these limited art pieces.

6. Superior Karma

5. A chance to have a piece of artwork with your favorite number on the wall.

4. The potential to make a nice profit when the $1 million worth of food goal is reached and you sell one of only 100 art pieces from the first series on eBay.

3. If you want a truly unique gift to give someone, it will be hard to beat this.

2. It comes with a great story making it a fantastic conversation piece whenever someone makes a comment about it on your wall.

And the number one reason that your should buy Penny Experiment art:

1. It’s an original, hand made piece of art signed by the artist and numbered on the back!

A Call For Couponers

Some of the biggest unsung heroes for food banks are couponers. Couponers who are able to get food for a fraction of the price using coupons often are able to do the same thing for foods that they don’t use themselves. Many of these couponers donate their excess food to their local food banks on a regular basis. I’m looking for these couponers to help with Penny Experiment.

Now that we have sold a 50% stake in the penny postcard art for $1000, we have some money to buy food for foodbanks. The best way to get the most for that money is to utilize the skill and knowledge of couponers.

The process is pretty straight forward. Basically, the couponer will go out and get the best deals that you can for the least amount of money using her/his couponing skills and I will reimburse them for any money that they spend. The couponer will then take the food to their local food bank and donate it to them.

If you are a coupon blogger, this will be a wonderful opportunity to show off your couponing skills and it will make an interesting series of posts for your readers. You will get to provide food for those in need in your local community without having to spend a dime of your own money. In addition, by showing how you use coupons to get food at discounts, you can help inspire others to use your knowledge and methods to not only lower their own grocery bills, but to also donate excess food they purchase in the future.

If you are a couponer and this sounds like a project that you would like to help out with, please email me ([email protected]) and I will give you all the details that you will need to know. If you know someone who is great with using coupons, please feel free to send this information on to them.

First Art Projects Should Be Arriving Soon

Although there are still spaces available for artists that want to participate in the Penny Experiment, the first finish artwork pieces should be arriving to me any day. I’ve had several artists contact me to let me know that they have finished and that their project is in the mail. I’ve been excitedly checking the mail each day to see if they have arrived.

There has also been some confusion about how the Penny Experiment works. A large part of that is due to the fact that this experiment began before any detailed plan on how it could be achieved was formulated, so I have been making it up as I go. That being said, the basics of how I hope to achieve the goal of getting $1 million worth of food is now in place and I have a link called “How It Works” in the sidebar to try and lesson any confusion there may be.

I have also created a list of easy ways that people can help even if they aren’t artists. If you feel that this experiment is worthwhile, I hope that you will take the time to do a few of them.

I’m looking forward to trying to fill the rest of the artist spots in the coming weeks, as well as begin the new phase of selling the art pieces that have been created when they arrive.

1000 Pennies

With the trade of the original Penny Experiment found penny for $10, the next step was for me to turn the $10 into 1000 pennies. I had this grand idea of placing the 1000 pennies into a glass piggy bank that I had lying around the house so they would display nicely for the photo, but I ran into a minor problem. One thousand pennies are a lot of pennies and as hard as I tried, I couldn’t squeeze them all into the piggy bank ruining my planned perfect photo. So The 1000 pennies are both inside and outside the piggy bank.

1000 pennies

one thousand pennies

Penny Experiment 1000 pennies

Blown photo opportunity aside, the $10 has now been converted into 1000 pennies. The first 100 of these pennies will be used on the artwork artists are creating (there are still numbers available so please continue to pass this experiment onto friends that might be interested in participating). When the artists finish their Penny Experiment art piece, they will send it to me complete except for the penny. I will then add the finishing touch by placing one of these pennies onto their work where they have indicated that it should be placed. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for the first art pieces to arrive…
