Inspiration: I have been at the point of having nothing (zero) and being forced to tell my children to eat as much of the free school lunch they could. I told them because I didn’t know whether I could have dinner on the table or not, or even manage to keep our home. The void I felt was vast and dark for a long time, but it was also where my new beginning and hope was born. I received tremendous compassion from people I didn’t know who I never thought would help me. So when Penny Art Experiment was introduced to me, it came full circle. I am able to give back something to someone else that had been given to me in my dark hour: help, love and a sense of passing compassion on. Even when life seems without light and one has nothing (zero), it is there in that creation point — in the void — where extraordinary situations can come alive. One step at the time, with something as physically small like a penny, great things can enter one’s life to benefit others.

About the Art: I was trying to capture the simple, humble and yet extraordinary powerful act of giving. We are given life, we are given guidance, we are given the power to share and to do it freely. That is one of the Graces, and it flows constantly through Universe and our lives

The significance of the number: The number seven (7) is a holy number, a number for creation, a life force. It is a numeric symbol for soul and for Universe, a spiritual dimension of life which only can be experienced, and it’s combined with body and earth which is the physical dimension of life which we all live. The number zero (0) is a void and the title refers to the Sufi mystic and poet Rumi, who wrote about humanity and our relationship with God and how we all are interconnected with everything and how that our lives are constantly created and re-created in the great cosmic web.
