I Just Bought 672 Boxes of Cereal

I still find it hard to believe that I did this. Lucky Supermarket was having a cereal promotion this week (still good until Tues) where if you buy 4 boxes of Kellogg’s Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Fruit Loops and Corn Flakes, each box is $1.39 or $5.56 for all four. I had a lot of left over Blinkie coupons for $0.70 off 1 box of Kellogg’s Apple Jacks, Corn Pops or Fruit Loops. I also had a ton of $1.00 off 2 Kellogg’s Corn Flakes coupons (one reader asked how she could help and I said I could always use cereal coupons and she sent me loads).

I did the first transaction as 4 Fruit Loops using four $0.70 off of 1 coupons. This brought the price down from $5.56 to $2.76. I paid this out of pocket, but received a $3.00 catalina coupon (the ones that come out of the register) for my next purchase.

I then did a few transactions of 2 Apple Jacks and 2 Corn Flakes where the total again came to $5.56. Then 2 $0.70 off 1 Apples Jacks coupons and one $1.00 off 2 Corn Flakes coupon brought the price down $3.16. Then I used the $3.00 catalina coupon I had just received bringing the price to $0.16 out of pocket (or $0.04 per box)and I received another $3.00 catalina coupon.

I had enough coupons that I knew I could do this all day, so I asked to speak to the manager and said I would like to order 600 boxes of Corn Flakes and 20 boxes each of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops and Fruit Loops (unfortunately, I only had enough coupons for 60 boxes of these – the price for four boxes of Corn Flakes increased to $0.56 for 4 boxes, or $0.14 per box). Those 660 boxes came in today:

Free Fig Newtons and Wheat Thins at CVS

If you have a CVS pharmacy nearby, you can pick up some free Fig Newtons this week until Saturday 5/1. They have been marked down to $1.00 each and if you like Fig Newtons on Facebook, you can get a $1 off coupon (which you can print two times on each computer you have). I ended up getting 5 for free that will go to the food bank (and I have to admit that I kept the sixth free box for myself because I’ve always liked Fig Newtons).

You can also do the same deal with Wheat thins that are marked down to $1 and you can get $1 off coupon if you like Wheat Thins on Facebook (which you can print two times on each computer you have). Wheat thins were out at my local CVS so I got a raincheck on them.

If you like Fig Newtons and Wheat this, grab some for yourself. If you don’t, or have multiple computers, drop some off at your local food bank as well. Getting the five boxes of Fig Newtons meant I was able to purchase $9.95 worth of food $0.00:

Free Lunchables and More Cream Cheese

When the good deals come around, it’s the time to take full advantage of them since there is no telling when the next one will appear. With that in mind, I went on another Philadelphia cream cheese mini buying spree picking up another 230 packs. I just found out that this deal is active for another week, but the $0.55 off blinkie coupons are being taken down fast. This is what they look like for those not familiar:

Free Philadelphia Cream Cheese Minis This Week

If you have a Safeway near you, you can take advantage of a sale this week where you can get free Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese mini 4 packs with coupons. Even without coupons, they are only $0.49 each when you buy five. I just bought 145 4-packs (I bought these at 7 different stores so that there was always enough for others to also do this deal) with a retail value of $361.05, and the stores paid me $1.40 to do so:

Another Quick Food Bank Trip

I have space in my room again! I took the food that I had stored there from last weeks food purchase to the Tri Valley Haven Food Pantry where it was gladly accepted by Claire.
