The Couponers Begin Their Work: 79% Savings

Those that are hard core couponers have a very different perspective than most people that go shopping. Most people would be proudly telling every person they know if they were able to make a food purchase that was almost 80% off retail price. Holly at Mommies With Cents did her first shopping run for Penny Experiment and announced that “this week was a bit of a disappointment” because she managed only a 79% savings on the food that she purchased.

Holly was able to purchase $13.96 for $3.47. This means that Penny Experiment has now spent $3.89 while purchasing $76.73 worth of food for food banks. Another baby step toward the goal of $1 million worth of food for food banks from a single penny found on the ground.
